A man in a transnational Chinese-Dutch relationship with a woman became the father of Wu Han and his sister.[2]

With the exception of Wu Han, the family was caught an outbreak of influenza and died sometime before 1933 came to a close. The ganagster Lao Che held the remains hostage to force Wu Han into servitude but they were eventually recovered with the help of Indiana Jones.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

James Kahn's novelization of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom states that following Wu Han's death, Indiana Jones intends to send money to his family, but as Indiana Jones and the Dinosaur Eggs later revealed that Wu Han's closest relatives, including his father, had all died by that point, it's unclear to whom this refers.

Kahn's novel also established that Wu Han is half-Chinese and half-Dutch but it is unknown which parent is which nationality.
